he strated his trip on a sunday to the festival, once there he stayed 2 days and then left on the next sunday it all makes sens

It doesn't seem to make sense, the way you put it, considering the festival is one hour or two trip, that'd change a lot, eh ?!

he started his trip on a sunday, arrived at the festival on friday stayed 2 days and left on sunday. does it make any sens to you now ?

It means that he turned back morning when the sun showed up ( sun day) or ( sunny day) isn't it ?
